The Fun Ship

Photobucket
So I almost wasn't even going to post this because I don't even want to think about it right now, but then I decided since I will one day probably look back on this at laugh, I should probably document it somewhere, and since I use this blog as a journal of sorts here goes...

[The Beginning]
For Christmas, Devin's Grandma and Parents teamed up to buy the whole family tickets for a 7 day Mexican cruise. Grandma also teamed up with Devin's Aunt and Uncle to get tickets for their whole family to go too! So now Devin's Mom's whole side of the family was going, with the exception of me because sadly I had school I couldn't miss. I was kinda bummed that I couldnt go, but I was more excited for everyone else, I knew they were going to have a great time and make so many great memories!! Devin was planning on driving down Saturday afterwork since the cruise was leaving on Sunday afternoon, so Saturday morning while he was at work I packed everything up for him... Even a cute Love note and Fun Food. I got out his passport and "SetSail" pass to board the ship and place them neatly in a zip lock baggie on top of his bag. Since he was driving down with his siblings, he decided to put the zip lock baggie in the front pocket of his suitcase as to not get lost or left behind in the car... They made the drive in great time and everything was going exactly as planned....

[The Nightmare]
Sunday morning came, Devin showered and got dressed and was all set and ready for the fun week ahead of him. His family arrived to the port a little after noon and preceded to give their luggage to the man at the curb to go ahead and put on the boat. They all went to get in line to check in and board the boat when Devin realized he left his passport and ticket in the front pocket of his suitcase. Since it had only been about 10 min he ran back to the man at the curb to help him locate his bag. By this time it was apparently too late and the bag was already on its way to the ship. The people working informed him that they would look for his bag but that they didnt know exactly where it was so it could be a while. So Devin sat around and waited, and waited, and waited some more. By this time the rest of his family had already gotten on the boat, and it seemed like everyone's luggage had already been delivered to their rooms except for Devin's... his was no where to be found. They closed boarding at 4:00pm and would not let Devin on the boat... meaning they had more than 3 hours to locate Devin's bag and never did. A little after 4:00pm Devin's bag was finally found and since the ship wasn't leaving the port till 5:00pm you would think the company would allow him to jump on board and join his family.... Wrong!!... they basicaly said "too bad so sad." At this point Devin preceded to find out if he could at least have his luggage since he was no longer going on the cruise, and down in LA by himself... do you think they gave it to him? ... Nope!! It stayed on the cruise ship, and Devin stayed off.

[The Icing on the Cake]
So now Devin is in LA with a dying cell phone, with no luggage, and no car to get back to his parents house. Do you think the nice people working for the cruise ship let him wait inside till he found a ride? ... Of Course Not!! they handed him a paper thin plastic poncho and threw him out in the rain. Luckily, Devin found some nice people from Poland who gave him a ride back to his house. Since he had school this week he drove all the way back up here on Monday... still luggage-less and without a refund... But OF COURSE he cant just make it home peacefully... apparently one of our headlights was out, so he got pulled over for that, and then got a ticket for our window tint being too dark.... I mean Seriously?! COme on NOW!!
[Moral to the Story]
I hate Cruises with a passion. Can you say the worst customer service ever?!? Who does that to people?!? This particular cruise was with Royal Caribbiean but we have had bad experiences in the past with other cruise ships too... all I can say is that they are only out for the money and could care less about any kind of customer service at all... and I wont support companies who treat their customers that way!!
